The municipal court, in imposing sentence upon any person committed to the city jail, shall as a part of said sentence provide whether or not said prisoner shall be compelled to perform labor as herein provided.

A. Any person committed to the city jail shall be given two days credit upon said sentence for each eight hour day of labor so performed.

B. Any person committed to the city jail in default of payment of fines and costs shall be given credit of five dollars ($5.00) for each day served in jail without labor, and if labor is performed by such prisoner, he shall be given credit for the sum of twelve dollars fifty cents ($12.50) for each eight hour day of labor so performed.
