A. A special use or unclassified use permit shall become null and void if the use or activity authorized by the permit has been abandoned or discontinued for more than one year.

B. Unclassified use permits authorizing surface excavations shall not be granted for more than five years at any one time. If the excavation is to continue beyond five years, a new application must be submitted and approved in compliance with this chapter.
