13.56.560 Uitilty service request notices - Prorated charges - Approved forms required.
A. All utility service request notices to activate or discontinue services shall be made in writing upon a form provided by the water department for that purpose and shall be filed with the Finance Department during regular business hours. The director may accept requests to discontinue service by mail when the writing substantially complies with the approved form, is signed by the owner listed on the account, and contains the street address of the premises. It is the responsibility of the owner or designated agent to confirm that service rrequest deposited in the mail were actually received by the city.
B. When a utility service request to activate or discontinue services is received by the city, monthly charges for water, and all other city utility services billed through the water account shall be prorated. The effective date for prorating will be the business day that the notice is received by the city.
C. Premises shall not be supplied with water, except for new construction or remodeling, until the correct house number is in place near the entrance of the building.
Prior to the adoption of 6497 on 03/24/2010, Section 13.56.560 read as follows.
A. When a shut-off notice or a turn-on notice is received by the city, water, sewer and garbage services shall be prorated as provided in this section. The month shall be divided into four quarters: first day through eighth day, ninth day through sixteenth day, seventeenth day through twenty-fifth day, and twenty-fifth day through the last day of the month. The customer shall be charged one-quarter of the monthly billing for each quarter of the month service is provided.
B. When a turn-on order is signed after the delinquent date and prior to the twenty-seventh day of any month, the rate for the premises shall be immediately due and payable to the water collector, but may be carried forward to the next month and included in and collected with the next month's bill without penalty.
