The city council may by resolution prohibit, regulate, or limit, stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on any highway at all times or during such times as shall be indicated by official traffic control devices, determine and declare one-way streets, arterial or through streets, and adopt such other restrictions to regulate traffic as it determines to be necessary. A copy of such restrictions adopted by the city council shall be authenticated and filed in the office of the Finance Director. In addition, copies thereof shall be available for use and examination by the public during regular business hours. In the event that a restriction adopted by resolution conflicts with a designation made by the Public Works Director under the Model Traffic Ordinance the resolution shall prevail.

Prior to the adoption of 6331 on 08/28/2002, Section 10.04.040 read as follows.

It is unlawful for any operator or for the motorman of any streetcar to disobey the instructions of any official traffic sign or signal placed in accordance with the provisions of this title, unless directed otherwise by a police officer. (Prior code § 9.02.100)
