The public safety committee shall generally supervise the functions of the city council in connection with matters affecting: the fire and police departments; the ambulance service; the fire code; the issuance of licenses and permits relating to law enforcement matters; the maintenance of law and order and the prevention of fire hazard; health, and pollution, and shall make reports to the city council for its consideration.
