All bonds and securities purchased by said board shall be held for safekeeping by the city treasurer of the city of Aberdeen. Whenever city bonds are paid, a record thereof shall be made in the journal of the board, and the bonds shall be canceled and burned in the office of the city treasurer, under the direction and supervision of the board.
