The commission shall keep a list of eligible, together with their grades of standing, date of examination and registration, for the inspection of the appointing officer in the various departments. Prior to making an appointment from eligibility list, the appointing official may require candidates to pass such other examinations, reasonably related to determining fitness for the position, including psychological evaluations and background checks, as may be required by the appointing official and consented to by the commission. Upon the request of the appointing official, the commission may remove the names of persons failing to successfully pass such additional examinations from the eligibility list.
