The purpose of the R-P district is to provide a transition between downtown and other intense commercial areas and the adjacent residential neighborhoods and to enable the development of neighborhoods with a mix of high density residential, professional, and service uses in appropriate locations. To accomplish this transitional function, the allowed uses and design standards encourage an overall residential character. Nonresidential uses allowed in this designation typically generate low to moderate levels of traffic and parking demands, and operate during daylight hours so as to minimize potential impacts on adjacent residential uses.
