Section 2 of the Aberdeen City Charter, as amended by Charter Amendment 14, shall be amended to read as follows:

Section 2 Officers.

The elective officers of the City shall consist of a Mayor and twelve Councilmembers, two from each ward. The Mayor shall be nominated and elected by the voters of the City at large and the Councilmembers by the respective wards.

The appointive officers shall consist of a Finance Director, Corporation Counsel, Fire Chief, City Engineer, Chief of Police, Police Judge, Water Superintendent, Building Inspector, Street Commissioner, Health Officer and the incumbents of such other offices as may from time to time be created by ordinance. The Finance Director, Corporation Counsel, Fire Chief, City Engineer, Chief of Police, Police Judge, Water Superintendent, Building Inspector, Street Commissioner and Health Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. All city officers enumerated in this section shall hold office for the term of two years and until their successors are elected and qualified with the exceptions of the Fire Chief and the Chief of Police who shall be under the City’s Civil Service system following their qualification for office. The elective officers shall take office on the first Monday of January following their election. The appointive officers shall take office upon their qualifying after their appointment and confirmation by the Council.
