No work shall be done by the city or any departments, officers or employees thereof on any legal holiday or Sabbath day by way of construction or extension of any public work, nor shall any work be done on any such day, or between seven o’clock p.m., of any day or six o’clock a.m., of the following day, by any corporation, or other persons, by way of construction, extension or removal of any structure upon, over, under or along any street, alley or public place within the city or under the control of the city, except in case of emergency.
