Regular full-time employees shall accrue one day of sick leave for each month of employment, unless a specific ordinance or collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise, and excepting those employees whose retirement system provides benefits similar to sick leave. Sick leave can be accumulated up to sixty (60) days unless a different period is provided by ordinance or the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.

Prior to the adoption of 6559 on 06/25/2014, Section 2.52.090 read as follows.

Regular full-time employees shall accrue one day of sick leave for each month of employment, unless a specific ordinance or collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise, and excepting those employees whose retirement system provides benefits similar to sick leave. Sick leave can be accumulated up to sixty (60) days unless a different period is provided by ordinance or the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Newly hired employees are not entitled to use sick leave until they have been employed by the city for six months. (Prior code § 1.40.090)
