Chapters 17.04 through 17.96 constitute an official land use control for the city of Aberdeen, state of Washington, adopted and established to serve the public health, safety and general welfare; to encourage the appropriate use of land throughout the city; to encourage the development of an attractive community; to lessen traffic congestion and accidents; to prevent the overcrowding of land; to avoid undue concentration of population; to promote coordinated development of unbuilt areas; to encourage the formation of neighborhood and community units; to secure an appropriate allotment of land area in new developments for all the requirements of community life; to conserve and restore natural beauty and other natural resources; to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage and other public uses and requirements; and to provide a means for carrying out the goals and policies of the city of Aberdeen comprehensive development plan.
