The codes and standards identified in this section, as published by the International Code Council and the Washington State Building Code Council, are adopted by reference as amended herein as the official building code of the city of Aberdeen. One (1) copy each of the codes adopted by reference shall be maintained at City Hall for use and examination by the public.

A. ICC/ANSI Standards A117-2009.

B. The 2018 Edition of the International Existing Building Code as adopted by WAC 51-50-480101 through 51-50-481500.

C. The 2018 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC), as adopted by Chapter 51-50 WAC, but excluding Chapters 13, 27, 28 and 29 of the IBC, which are not adopted and including IBC Appendices E and J.

D. The 2018 Edition of the International Residential Code (IRC), as adopted by Chapter 51-51 WAC, and the IRC Appendices B, C F and G and Chapters 11 through 43 are excluded and not adopted, but with the following amendments and exclusions:

1. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 1, is amended to read as follows:

One-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses, providing the floor area does not exceed 128 square feet (11.89 square meters);

2. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 1, is amended to read as follows:

Fences not over six (6) feet (18208.8mm);

3. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 3, is amended to read as follows:

Retaining walls that are not over three (3) feet (914.4mm) in height measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, unless supporting a surcharge;

4. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 10 (decks under two hundred (200) square feet and thirty (30) inches above grade), is excluded and not adopted.

Prior to the adoption of 6544 on 06/12/2013, Section 15.08.010 read as follows.

One copy each of the codes adopted by reference shall be maintained at City Hall for use and examination by the public.

B. The 2009 Edition of the International Existing Building Code.

C. The 2009 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC), together with the amendments by the state Building Code Council adopted as WAC Chapters 51-50 and the IBC Appendices E and J, but excluding chapters 13, 27, 28, and 29 which are not adopted.

D. The 2009 Edition of International Residential Code (IRC), together with the amendments by the state Building Code Council adopted as WAC Chapters 51-51 (IRC) and the IRC Appendices B, C, F, and G, but with the following amendments and exclusions:

1. Section R101.2 of chapter 1 is amended to read as follows: Exception: Live/work units complying with the requirements of Section 409 of the International Building Code shall be permitted to be built as one- and two-family dwellings or townhouses;

2. Section R105.2 of chapter 1, exemption from permits item 1, is amended to read as follows: One-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses, providing the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet (18.58 square meters);

3. Section R105.2 of chapter 1, exemption from permits item 10 (decks under 200 square feet and 30 inches above grade) is excluded and not adopted;

4. Section R105.3.1.1 of chapter 1 is excluded and not adopted;

5. Chapter 11 and chapters 25 through 42 are excluded and not adopted.

Prior to the adoption of 6501 on 08/11/2010, Section 15.08.010 read as follows.

The 2006 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC) and the 2006 Edition of the International Residential Code (IRC), as published by the International Code Council, Inc., together with amendments by the state Building Code Council adopted as WAC Chapter 51-20, and IBC Appendix F, I, and J, excluding chapters 13 (Energy), 27 (Electrical), 28 (Mechanical), and 29 (Plumbing), and IRC Appendix A,B,C, G, and M, exluding chapters 11 (Energy), 25 through 32 (Plumbing), and 33 through 42 (Electrical), are adopted by reference as the official building code of the City of Aberdeen. One copy each of the International Building Code, 2006 Edition, and the International Residential Code, 2006 Edition, shall be maintained at City Hall for use and examination by the public.

Prior to the adoption of 6439 on 06/27/2007, Section 15.08.010 read as follows.

The 2003 Edition of the International Building Code, EXCEPT Chapter 13 (Energy Efficiency), Chapter 27 (Electrical), and Chapter 29 (Plumbing), and the 2003 Edition of International Residential Code, EXCEPT for Sections, 105.3.1.1, 109.1.3, 112.2.1 and 112.2.2, Chapter 11 (Energy Efficiency), and Chapters 26 through 32 (Plumbing), as published by the International Code Council, Inc., together with amendments by State Building Code Council filed as WAC Chapter 51-20, are adopted by reference as the official Building Code of the city of Aberdeen, with the amendments, additions, and exceptions as provided in this chapter. One copy each of the International Building Code, 2003 Edition, and the International Residential Code, 2003 Edition, shall be maintained at city hall for use and examination by the public.

Prior to the adoption of 6361 on 06/09/2004, Section 15.08.010 read as follows.

Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of the 1997 Edition of the Uniform Building Code and Uniform Building Code Standards, and the 1997 Edition of the Uniform Code for Building Conservation, as published by the International Conference of Building Officials, together with amendments by State Building Code Council filed as WAC Chapter 51-20, are adopted by reference as the official building code of the city of Aberdeen, with the amendments and additions as provided herein. One copy each of the Uniform Building Code, the Uniform Code for Building Conservation, and WAC Chapter 51-20 shall be maintained for use and examination by the public in the office of the finance director.
