The director as a condition of approval of activities or uses under this chapter may require that the outer boundary of a critical area or buffer be identified with temporary markers or permanent signs when needed to minimize potentially harmful intrusions from temporary construction activities, adjacent land uses, to alert citizens to a potential public health or safety risk associated with a critical area, or to accomplish other objectives specifically provided for elsewhere in this chapter. The director shall provide specifications on the type, content, and size of the markers or signs prior to permit approval. Temporary markers will be subject to inspection by the director prior to the commencement of permitted activities. All temporary marking required by the approval shall be maintained throughout construction and shall not be removed until permanent signs, if required, are in place. Permanent signs, if required, shall be posted near primary access points and approximately every two hundred (200) feet along the critical area boundary unless the director determines that less frequent spacing is adequate considering the size and location of the site.
